I am freaking out. I have been using rogaine for 3 months with really good results. However, in the past few days my hair has DRASTICALLY thinned out. I don't get this at all. Is this another shed? How could this stop working at only 3 months!?

I have no personal experience with min. But I believe this is expected. Hang in there, maybe cut it short for your shedding phase

It doesn't stop working at 3 months. What you may be going through is another shed. Look here:

Thanks man, I just don't get it. I was doing really well with this stuff and then it just got horrible

After twelve to sixteen weeks, you should not have any shedding. And you should see results.

So, it's been at least twelve weeks. There are still a few weeks left (for shedding). After that, all of the hair
(or 99%) should be in the growth phase (no shedding).

When we (males) are balding, our hair goes into the resting phase longer.

So, no need to worry yet. After sixteen weeks, if you see lots of thinning, time to reevaluate your strategy.

So you think I'm just shedding again? I had an initial shed that lasted a month. Around month 3 I had really good results; I even posted here in the success category. That's why I'm so confused why I'm thinning again. I mean, the stuff obviously has a positive impact on my hair for those 3 months. I have not missed a single application and apply it 2 times a day. I also use keto and lasercomb. I just hope I'm not losing ground.

You are having success. What I'm saying is that between twelve and sixteen weeks, more shedding can occur with minoxidil.

Even with finasteride, it takes around six weeks (although no shedding) to start getting benefits.

Thanks man. I'm just freaking out. So to understand you correctly, you believe that 3 months ago a certain percentage of my hair that was close to falling out, fell out and then grew back 3 months later; and, now the other certain percentage of hair is shedding and will come back in 3 months?

All I'm saying is that hair can still be shedding. The good news is your progress is good, and it might be even getting better. The shedding process is around twelve to sixteen weeks. So, your probably done that part.

It only happens when your hair is being kicked into growth phase, which min makes it one to two days (resting).

Thanks man. I'm not arguing with you at all so sorry if it appeared that way. I just didn't think shedding happened this late. Do you think my explanation in my previous reply makes sense?

Yes, it makes sense. But shedding can go into sixteen weeks. Hair growth is an individual thing. Some people's hair naturally grows faster and
a longer period of time than others.

I know u had long term success with min alone, right? How long did you shed

Long term success isn't the word I would use. In my twenties it was successful, and enough Norwood 1.5 . Norwood 2 - 2.5 in my thirties. If I used
finasteride in my mid to late thirties, I would probably be a 1.5 now.

Up until the end of 2011 - 2012 moderate success. 2013 - Failure (Norwood 4+ area). And believe me, the difference between 2011 (beginning) and
2012 is huge. It was stressful life events, and aging, that kicked my baldness into high gear.

It was finasteride, and highly concentrated minoxidil solution which I use now is making me Norwood 3, and possibly (hopefully) less soon. I'm adding
hydrocortizine and progesterone to my treatment options, for hair regrowth only.
I'm just trying to avoid finasteride but if I lose ground I know I at least have to try it. Side effects scare me and I'm hoping for samummed and other treatments to be realeased soon

Hate to say it, but Propecia came out in 1997. It's been almost twenty years. Everything new is either a stronger
antri androgen, that possibly has more side effects, or a regrowth option (Bimapost).

I'm not really optimistic about future treatments. And even if they are good, if the hair has been gone for many
years, will they really work?

Yeah but up until recently (2011-2012) we didn't know as much as we do now.
