Im 20 year old and Ive been experiencing hair loss for the past 4 years.
Mostly because I started relaxing my hair. Even though there is hair loss in the family, my mom's dad is bold and my father has a recieving hairline but he is in his 50's and he is doing a great job maintaining his level 2.

Is there a certain method of treating hair loss caused by hair relaxers, lye or whatever those chemicals are called. Im currently using Rogaine 2% for the past 2 months.. no results so far. Im thinking of trying the 5% one.

I wanna use propecia but I know it has sexual side effects.
I already have had a transplant procedure but they didnt give me a new hairline they just tried to condense what i have.

I know that im not alone, I know that there are others out there who are in my age and have reached severe stages in hair loss but there has to be something.
Ive learned to keep it to myself which is why I was very hesitant of posting this here. But its anonymous and the people here are people who are just like me. looking for a solution.

Any comments are appreciated.

thnx

Don

Yes start using 5% minoxidil. It's a bit more potent than 2%. Propecia yes is a potential drug when it comes to side effects. But most of the men that use it don't experience any side effects or if they do its very minor. But of course there are a few men that do get them. It's one of those products that you have to take a risk with and see what happens. If you experience bad side effects you might want to drop it. Wait a minute, your only 20 so you may not want to mess with it until you get older(25 yrs and over or so). Your body is still going through hormonal changes so you may not want to mess with it. For one thing, you can get on Dr. Lee's site and talk to him about it. He's very knowledgeable. He has good products too. His e-mail is RichardLeeMD@earthlink.net and his website is http://www.minoxidil.com. Tell him your situation and what you should do. Ask him what products of his he would recommend to you. Of course, there are probably other reputable people like him that you could speak to on the net. I've e-mailed him a lot and he always replied back pretty quick. Currently I'm not using his products right now even though I am one of his patients. I don't have the extra cash right now. Later I will use them. Yes in order to receive his products you have to do an online consultation with him. It's a fee of $20 and that will be added on to your first order if you order anything. The fee is a one time only thing. You won't have to do it again. When you receive his fill out consultation form by e-mail, you have to print it out and fill every thing in with a pen. Then you send it air mail to him. With in a few days(2 or 3) you get an e-mail from him and he will tell you wether or not he approves of you to use his products. If he approves then you are then a patient of his and you'll have access to order his topicals. He sells propecia but in order to get it from him you'll have to have a face to face consultation with him in person. It's just the way the law works in California I guess. Well keep us informed on whats going on and ask questions. You're new to the site so feel free to post. Just don't let hairloss depress you because if you stress it'll just get worse even faster. Good Luck. :)

chemical relaxers shouldn't cause you to "lose" hair. however, they do damage the hair and cause it to break. look at the hairs that are falling down, and check to see if you can see a bulb which is the root. the only permanent loss of hair you can have from relaxers is if you allowed the relaxer to stay on the scalp too long and causes it to have chemical burns. in other words, if your hair is thinning then your hair would be thinning regardless of the relaxer.
