Hello All,

I have done quite a bit of reading prior to positng this so to keep it simple:

1. Any success stories or best treatments for a Norwood 4? Mainly recedding and bald patch at back?

2. How do these remedies work if ur currently just buzz cut anyways?

3. It appears the big 3 seems to give the most success. What is it and what volumes? I think seems to be the best route!

Many thanks - i know we all here for same reasons

I was Norwood 4 or 5 in October of 2007 and had what I call good results
since then. I buzzed down to a 2 then and it helps becuase you
can apply all the topical's easier. If you search my threads in my sig I'm
sure there are pictures from back then.

Thanks man. I hope the pictures and info helps all the NW4 and 5 here
that are just starting. The big three does work for some. I'm one of
the lucky ones that has good results and no side effects.

I would'nt expect the big 3 to work half as well on the average Norwood 4/5 though. From everything I've seen regrowth is quite a rare occurance.

Really? I assumed that it worked for some percentage like maybe
50% but rare? That seems very low to get no regrowth with all the
regrowth I've gotten. Is it something about my regime or do you
think I was just lucky?

I was an extremely thin Norwood 4 (probably close to a 5 ) back in 2000 or so. My temples have recovered to a 2.5ish, have also had a good amount of regrowth/thickening on top, and have had a large bald spot on the crown fill in about 40-50%

I'm still obviously balding but have managed to turn back the clock a decade or better and am still seeing small improvements every 3-4 months, especially at the temples.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with my results with finasteride and minoxidil since I wasn't expecting this big of an improvement in the first place.

It's certainly worth a try.

That's sums up my thoughts for the most part. I'm just not sure that
recover like ours could be considered rare.

I dont know, I think if results like yours were the norm every bald guy in the western world would be on the big 3, they'd be some of the biggest selling products in the country.
I think alot of guys that try these treatments expect results like yours and when it does'nt happen they give up.
I'm just saying to the original poster dont get your hopes up of getting your hair back through the big 3.
Realisticly speaking just halting your hairloss is a good result. I think some people like yourself are good 'responders' whilst many it just slows down or delays m.p.b.
Its definatley a case of treatment rather than cure.
