I'm 24 and have been on Propecia for 7 months. [see "Lopfraze's Story" for more info].

After initial shedding etc., the Propecia seems to be woring well. Rate of hair loss seems to have slowed significantly.

However, about 4 months in I was starting to notice that I was getting a few zits. I have a pretty clear face, and have never really had a serious problem with zits on my face, so I noticed this. Anyway, since then I have had a regular stream of zits on my face.

The zits themselves I can handle, but what I can't handle is that in some cases they seem to be leaving permanent scars. In 3 or 4 cases I am left with dark blotches, and in 1 case I have been left with a darkened indentation in my skin.

This is sh*t.

My diet is ok, but not great. But more importantly, my diet has not changed since I started taking the Propecia, so I don't think diet is responsible for this.

I have been a big advocate of Propecia, but now my opinion is changing. I have decided to go from 1 tablet/day to 1 tablet/every other day. I'll see if that does anything.

Anyway, any advice on what to do, how to prevent the acne in the first place & how to clear up scarring would be really appreciated. Anything to cheer me up would be welcome too.

Order their 2.5% BP Gel. It's exactly like Proactive but without the marketing BS and mark up. If this doesn't keep you clear you'll need to see a doctor or derm.

I have had acne prone skin since I was 12 and this is the only thing that's kept me clear. And I've tried everything short of Accutane.

If you're not comfortable in ordering online get Neutrogena's On the Spot Treatment which is the same 2.5% BP. But why would you do that? Acne.org's gel is much cheaper and absorbs better. Good luck.

That's probably your body adjusting to the sudden decrease in DHT. I bet your testosterone is pretty high. I went through the same thing. I should have tapered my dosage. Instead of going every other day, try taking only .5mg every day to see if that works.

Be careful though, your body might burn out like mine.
