Hi all,

I have two photos, one just before beginning Propecia in August of 2012 and one (I just took) 8 months into the therapy. I have taken half the dosage (.5mg) every day. Mostly, brand name Propecia, but I just finished a 2-month stint on Dr. Reddy's and re-began the brand name a week and a half ago.

Do you think the reason I see more of the scalp in the second picture is (most likely) wholly attributed to the length of my hair? Or could I have lost hair while on the drug?

Picture 1, August 2012 just before beginning Propecia:

Picture 2, tonight, 8 months into Propecia:

I realize it may be hard to tell but any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The lighting in the first one is darker, as well as what you mentioned, that your hair longer. Dark lighting makes hair appear fuller. IMO, you might have maintained in those 8 months.

My suggestion is since you seemed to have maintained well with finasteride, you should see some thickening if you add Rogaine.

I have been using Rogaine for more than 2 years. I feel I don't use as much as I should, particularly in my first application of the day, as I want my hair to look a certain way when I go out.

As for the pictures, it's not so much the lighting is different as it is the camera used. The second picture was taken with a better phone camera. Ah, maybe the lighting is different a bit too.

I experienced the same issue when I changed cameras, and also when I changed homes. The lighting in the bathroom at the new place was totally different. Can basically throw photos with different cameras and lighting right out, very hard to compare.
