Help - Face puffiness and irritation

First of all, I would like to thank the folks over here. After going through this site for a few days I was able to settle down on realistic hair loss treatments( Finasteride, Minoxidil and Nizoral).

I have been on my regimen for the past 3-4 weeks. I did not have any major side effects other than mild scalp itch. But two days ago I had a mild itch over my face which progressively worsened. Today when I woke up I was horrified to see my face puffed up(esp below my eyes).

Does this situation sound familiar to anyone else? Is it due to Minoxidil intolerance? I am using Rogaine 5 %. I am surprised because I did not have any reaction during the first 3 weeks. I have dropped Rogaine for now. Is there a good Minoxidil alternative to Rogaine with lesser side effects?

Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Been using minoxidil for 4 Years. Often get facial puffiness if a bit over zealous in the amount applied. It passes quickly though. Try it again with a marginally reduced application amount. Or skip a few applications per week. That should do it.

Thanks guys. I did apply Rogaine directly on my wet scalp. Probably it resulted in minoxidil over-absorption.
