hi, i am new to the forum. i started using propecia and monox off and on for lil over 2 years now. i am still thinning and shedding like crazy. i dont know if propecia have help me at all during my 2 years of use. i was wondering if i should get off on the propecia and minoxidil. i feel like i am just wasting my money and hope trying to grow couple of hairs... i could just shave my head and face the fact that i am going bald and live my life to the fullest. i am so confused... oh by the way i am 25 and i live in hawaii but i dont surf or go to the beach no more coz of my hair loss. this sucks!!!

You say that you have been on and off these two in the past. That's been your problem.

You have to understand, everyone has to understand that when you start to take these products you are in it for the long run. That's why you need to be 100% sure when you start these. Propecia/Proscar is a lot easier because you just pop a pill.

minoxidil on the other hand would be a complete pain in the arse to put on twice a day for the rest of your life, or until baldness does not bother you.

If you are going to take a product then stick with it. Otherwise don’t take anything and let baldness take hold.

Sorry for the harshness but there are lot of people who come on here who complain about hair loss only to explain that they have been on and off treatments for 1 or 2 years. This is the reason your are not happy with the result. Get back on finasteride; leave minoxidil until you are desperate. Stay on finasteride for at least a year before deciding if it has worked. If you get sides then have a break for a week. Then start again.

That's the best and only advice that anyone or I could give. Also add Nizoral. This is a cheap option and could help alongside finasteride.

Ditto what Traxdata said, you need to be consistent.

No one can tell you if the treatments are working for you until you have used consistently for 6 months AT LEAST.

If you find it a hassle putting minoxidil on just stick with the propecia for now.
