Hi everyone,
Quick back story: I'm a 25 year old guy who first suspected a receding hairline at around 19. I first of all noticed more hairs falling when styling my hair, but this initial "shed" subsided after a while, and the receding hairline progressed very slowly. At 21 I still had a great head of hair, albeit in a typical norwood 2 shape. No one suspected any hairloss due to the way I styled my hair, and I frequently receive compliments. Despite the generally good state of my hair, I decided that jumping on propecia would be a great idea somewhere around the age 22/23. My hair stabilized and possibly improved slightly around the hairline, but by this point I had become greedy and wanted more, and so I jumped on rogaine liquid about 18 months ago. I stayed on the rogaine liquid for 11 months, my hair seemed to slowly improve further over that period. No side effects up until this point! Then I started getting severe dandruff around the areas that I was applying the rogaine, followed by little red patches of irritation. Perhaps foolishly, I carried on applying the rogaine in the hopes that this irritation would subside. Unfortunately it didn't and I had to quit the liquid. This was around June last year. I did try rogaine foam, but after a few days of once a day application, I started to get irritation. I have also tried spectral dc, and after applying ONCE, within hours I had a red patch around the application area.
Which brings us to present day, and 10 months since quitting the rogaine. Up until 3 months ago, I didn't feel as though I had lost a great deal more hair since quitting. It has been since then, after the 6 month stage that my hair as really started taking a noticeable dive. I do not know what to do! Will my hair bounce back? Or do I try and find another form of minoxidil? My hair is not so much receding at the moment, but diffusing all through the front third. I seriously don't want to throw in the towel here.
PS an additional point to note; I had to skip 4 weeks of propecia around 6/7 months ago due to a lack of funds.
PPS. Sorry for the blatant lie at the beginning of this post! There was nothing quick about this post
