I've used nizoral 1 and 2%, head & shouldiers, t/gel, t/gel intensive anti flake control, and I still these flakes when I run my hand through my hair. I think that this is holding back my potential on the big 3.

I used them for 3-4 minutes before rinsing also.

Any ideas?

Possibly, I do use 2ml per session, twice per day. However, I have it even after I wash my hair.

Maybe it's not dandruff, in which case the anti-dandruff shampoo will have little effect, but prehaps a skin reaction to one of the constituen parts of the particular brand of minoxidil you are using (PPG or alcohol etc)?

Maybe it's just your skin being dried out by the barrage of alchohol?

Have you tried using a moisturiser on your (clean) scalp between applications of minoxidil, this might help.

good luck

P.S what's the idea behind using 2ml twice a day?

For what it's worth, I've finally gotten mine under a decent level of control with the following schedule:

Monday: Nizoral 2%
Tuesday: Emu Oil Shampoo & Conditioner*
Wednesday: T/Gel Maximum Strength
Thursday: Emu Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
Friday: Nizoral 2%
Saturday: Emu Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
Sunday: T/Sal

I leave all medicated shampoos on for 3-5 minutes, and I don't rinse & repeat.

I use 2ml in my applications, because I am thinning in the horseshoe pattern and I do this in order to get enough coverage. I figure they recommended 1ml which was only understood to be used on the very rear of the head, so 2ml is what I use on my entire thinning area.

hhhmmm... I have often thought about this, surley if you have an area you would like to treat of say.... 6 square inches you would need twice as much minoxidil as someone who wants to treat 5 square inches? right?

Do you have any links/info showing that 1ml was designed to treat just the back of the head?

Have you noticed any side effects from using 2ml x 2 a day??

Heart palpatations (when you add up the cost) headaches etc ?

cheers

Also with regard to your crispy scalp, another small help (a little unrelated but I'll say it anyhow) may be to rinse your scalp with very cold water at the end of your bath/shower/roll in the mud, as I have found this can help calm an angry scalp.

Try the moisuriser thing it really works

I have to say that I have dandruf, too, and I am also on the big 3.

It sounds like you are using the right shampoo. My only additional advice is 1) don't run your hands through your hair too often. This will only make the flakes on your scalp surface to the top of your hair, and 2) use your fingernails to scratch your scalp and dislodge the flakes on your head. I usually make sure my nails are cut short, and I don't go crazy either. Just enough to to the job. Try it, see if it works for you.

Good luck.
