So, I have male pattern baldness. I started on minoxidil 5% while I was in London last year and saw great results for the first six months. I stopped taking it and six months later I had lost all the hair I had re-grown. I started taking minoxidil again in November and after two months I saw amazing improvement once again. I have been taking it diligently since then. Around April and May, I had an incredibly stressful two months. Easily the worst and most stressful two months of my life. My diet was bad, I slept terrible and I didn't work out as much, on top of it. I started having severe acne and as a result started taking Minocycline. After only one month, I had massive hair loss. To put it into perspective, I would shower and look at my hair (when wet) and it would still look thick, no gaps. By late June, I could see very clear thinning once I got out of the shower (when wet), the thinning continued and now I can start to see a bit of thinning even when dry. My hair (when wet) looks like how it was before I started the minoxidil, except the thinning is a bit more spread out covering the entirety of my scalp, instead of the middle region like before. I have very curly hair, so when dry it looks better than before I got on the minoxidil, but wet it's just as bad.
Since the stress is gone and I'm back to normal, will the hair I lost grow back? I'm 23 and the male pattern baldness started at 21. Again, while on the first 6 months of minoxidil my hair looked like how it was at 18, 19, 20, before It became apparent I had male pattern baldness and then all of a sudden a lot of it was gone again. I say all of a sudden, because for the first 6 months ( Late November to early May) I took pictures two times a day, of my hair. I stopped in May and there was a pretty remarkable difference by late June. It's now August and I believe the hair loss has gotten worse. I stopped taking the Minocycline July 23rd. I'm still on Minoxidil.
So I saw a pretty dramatic difference from early May to late June. Is that normal? Is it a result of the male pattern baldness? Or has the effect of minoxidil worn off? Or is it that my stress and life events made the male pattern baldness accelerate? Or could it have been the Minocycline which I started in the beginning of May.
I'm also on the Bosley Shampoo and conditioner. No, I am not on finasteride.
Thank you for any advice ahead of time.
