Integration bases were designed for women - I have never heard of a guy wearing one. I recommend forgetting about integration unless your hair is pretty long. I think people find it comforting to be able to use their own hair, but there is really very little, if any, benefit to it - and it's a hassle.
Most women who try an integration base don't stick with it - it takes too much fussing. You need to use a hook (like a crochet hook) to grab the hair & pull it up and through. And you have to be careful to pull it directly upward so that it goes through the correct hole and doesn't cross and tangle with the hair next to it.
