Been a voyeur of hairloss talk forum for month+ now and like to share the success ive had over the last 3 - 4 months now.
25 now, first noticed by hair loss receding around my temples at 18. Didn't do much bout it then, just let the hair grow long. At 21, i noticed what i had left of my frontal forelock started to thin. Decided to use the rogaine twice a day. After the first two months of the rogaine noticed the peach fuzz around the temples and thought to myself great its working. All i was hoping for was maintain what i had left. But a year in to that regimen nothing came more of my peach fuzz and i was definitely getting thinner. Felt like i could've been losing more hair on it, ever time i applied it always left lots of hairs on my hands. Stopped using it after 12 months or so, more hassle then it was worth.
2 - 3 years later the hairspray and the cap wasnt enough. I was around Norwood 3-4, vertex had started to thin, while my fontal lock was extremely thin and wouldn't really grow past an inch and thought it would be completely gone in a year or two. so said to myself i'll take the plunge and just shave it all off. Long story short, Shaved head does not suit me at all. Decided ill look into a hair transplant. Made an appointment with hair transplant doctor. He diagnoised me male pattern baldness, DHT, and prescribed me with proscar and told me to use nizoral and the rogaine again and come back in 9 months. After a year on the rogaine before with no results and not a believer in drugs, bar the recreational kind, i was pretty pessimistic and pretty pissed off with the Doctor and said that will be last i see of him.
After a week of self petty and boozing. convinced myself 9 months will fly by and what the hell ill give this proscar a go. Literally a week on the proscar started to noticed that there weren't any more hairs on my pillow in the morning. With that i purchase the old rogaine once more and the nizoral, but just applying the rogaine 4 -5 times a week. This time no hair was stuck to my hands after applying. 3 weeks in i could feel the peach fuzz around the temples again. surprised with this, cause ive been bald on the temples 5 years, bar the last peach fuzz i grew, but was pretty sure they would remain terminal.
2 months into the regimen started to notice terminal had actual grown a bit and several of them had started to darken. with this i was convinced that the proscar was actually working. found it difficult not to check everyday.
3 1/2 months in now and my vertex and frontal forelock has really started to thicken up, frontal forelock is still a bit thin. and the new growth around the temples continues to grow and darken.
My regimen 1/4 proscar daily
nizoral 1% 2-3 weekly
rogaine 5% 1 ml daily
Unfortunately don’t have the use of a digital cam, but the Doctor took some pics. The next appointment I have with him in 5 months. I should be able to show you the before and after pics.
As of side effects done really. No real shedding, from taking showers same hair fall out for the first 2 months, gradually less and less after.
Question: Anyone know of any good conditioners to use?
