Right im really at a crossroads and i need some experienced help, this is really really getting me debressed.

Ok i have been on finasteride (0.6mg) for around 9 months. In this time my skin has went really blotchy, red and spotty. No amount of watching my diet, supplements or facial washes seem to cure the problem. In this time i have been on antibiotics which help a bit i suppose but doesnt clear it.

When i was off finasteride when i was in hospital (was on finasteride previous for 9 months previous), i noticed my skin was much better, i wasnt even taken any supplements are antibiotics and was eating crap.

My question is whats my options for maintianing my hair without finasteride. Im really am thinking of quiting it, just dont want to waste 10 months for nothing. My skin is just as important as my hair.

Im 23 by the way.

Please help HairLossTalk.com

First of all I would try switching to dutasteride.

Although it is also a 5AR inhibitor some people say that they didnt get the side effects they got from finasteride with it.

It may just suit you better and not cause you to get spots.

If that doesn't work, I would use topical spironolactone and revivogen. Also are you using minoxidil?

Will using dutasteride just pick up from where finasteride stops? Is it give any major sides, long term problems? Really need to clear skin up.

Not on minoxidil, just finasteride right now. Will going on dutasteride make a difference is dutasteride not just the same as finasteride but stronger?

Any answers to my dutasteride question.

Say i was to use spironolactone and reviogen would it have the same affect as finasteride?? Is it just a once a day application??

Thanks

If you are determined to use a topical DHT inhibitor then spironolactone and Nizoral shampoo would be a good option. I personally dont rate revivogen, but I have never used it. Maybe someone who has had success with it will post here.
I believe that using Dutasteride would be a terrible choice. The sides you have experienced with 0.6mg finasteride have been caused because your body is especially sensitive to reduced levels of DHT. As dutasteride will simply lower DHT levels even lower I believe you will cause yourself some real problems using dutasteride.
