I've been lurking around these forums on and off for about 5/6 years. Thought I should probably share some of my experiences.
My hair starting going when I was around 19/20, slowly at first but got pretty bad by the time I was 22. I freaked out and got straight on finasteride.
Started working pretty quickly and hair gradually improved over the the first year and half or so, few sheds I think but was generally improving all the time. By the 2.5 year mark had REALLY thickened up, almost TOTAL recovery. Was AMAZED as I never really expected much, hair loss has literally reversed. Any of you guys starting out on finasteride, be patient.
Had suffered from quite bad acne and around that time it had started to get pretty bad so was put on accutane. DO NOT take this drug if your worried about hair loss. It did wonders for my skin, was flawless, but my hair thinned pretty much over night and all the recovery from the finasteride was suddenly undone.
Has been couple since taking accutane and have managed to maintain hair still with finasteride, but it much weaker than it used to be.
The other problem is I think years of anti-biotics and the accutane have damaged my liver so may not been able to tolerate finasteride anymore. This is scaring the crap out of me as if I have to stop my hair will go to crap.
Am considering trying to get some RU as a replacement, but not sure if you can order to uk...
