I'd flip that around, personally.
Do you really want to waste your hopes on new players in the game when those new players have nothing to show but promises?
The 3 you mention have easily the best science and funding in the business and 2/3 are on track for a market release. Most stuff fails in Phase II but they're putting Follica through for FDA approval and you of course know about Shiseido. There is simply nothing else in the pipeline that is more likely to succeed, judging by the current status of things.
I'm less involved with it in recent years, but I used to do a lot of contract work in the video game/software industries since I was a teenager. Over the years, I've lost count of how many new start ups, individual developers etc. I've met who told me of all their grand plans: How their game was going to be released on every major platform, have voice acting...the works. 9/10 of these guys failed; I'd see them at industry trade shows and they had either an abysmal demo of their product or (far more often) nothing at all.
The same is true of all startups — the ones talking a big game, but without the funds and proven track record to back it up, are almost always the ones who go nowhere.
