Hair Whorl & the area

Hi, I don't know really how to ask this but just wanted to know if anyone else had this happen or maybe if this is a sign of baldness. About a month ago, I got my haircut & the guy was trimming the back area with the scissors & up on top in the back, close to my supposedly hair whorl. First, I thought around that area that it would just fill in time with growth but it's actually been a month now & that hair likes to actually stick up & the whorl area hair looks a bit thin & actually the area above the whorl is thinner & maybe a bald spot developing. I have actually never have had this happen before so not to sound stupid, just wanted to call alert to it and was wondering could that area of the hair, where it's a bit shorter than the top, be controlling the way things grow in that area and also maybe if this is something that i should look into Rogaine for or just shutup and let it grow out itself? To this point, I haven't been taking anything & as you can tell, I'm pretty new at this but thanks for this great website.

Thanks so much for the response & yeah I will monitor it. Hairloss isn't too much in my family & again, I greatly appreciate it.
