Hair Thinning And Loss Due To Sb, Should I Begin Minoxidil?

Hello,
I have had Seborrheic Dermatitis (SB) since my puberty and am now 25. I have been losing hair all these years and have been fighting SB with only Head & Shoulders Shampoo. Being a potential PhD applicant, I have rarely had time to look into this issue until recently. I started shredding crazily from Fall 2017. I changed my shampoo and conditioner to pretty expensive brands relative to what I used to use before (H&S). Though they improved the quality of my hair, SB enhanced hilariously. I then shifted to using Neutrogena T-Gel Original Formula. That did nothing, applied once everyday. I quickly shifted to Extra Strength, and I believe that it has helped me a lot. I can run my hand through the top of my scalp and touch no dandruff. However, I still wouldn't call it curing SB as I just itched my sides as I was writing this. I have placed an order for T-Sal and am hoping that it would treat my SB to a greater extent that I wouldn't need to worry about it. Note that, when I first started noticing dandruff after puberty, I did see a dermatologist and was prescribed ketoclonazole 2% shampoo, and it didn't help me at that time, so I stopped and kept using H&S as it was at least removing the dandruff on a daily basis.

As of now, I have lost pretty much 80% of the density that should have on the top of my head. I'd like to believe that sides and backs are still going strong. Most of my loss has occurred surrounding the crown and some on my hairline. I have pretty much a bald patch around my crown now, and there's zero density around hairline, but some in between. The picture attached depicts the case around my crown.

Since I started researching on this topic, I have come across solutions like minoxidil and finasteride. I added finasteride in my regime and bought a 3-month supply of Rogaine's 5% minoxidil foam on an impulse. I haven't applied Rogaine yet, but have started taking finasteride 1 mg daily, along with 10 mg biotin. I was planning to start applying Rogaine after my finals this semester, which will end by the upcoming week. I have very recently (a week) begun to shred hilariously. I believe that this trend had started just the day before I started taking finasteride, and continuing on finasteride hasn't helped the shred. I have since stopped using T-Gel Extra Strength daily now and am only using it every other day, mainly because I fear the shred, although I still incur it when I brush my hair after showering and towel drying. Along with others, I have been regularly taking fish oil and multivitamins since Fall 2017.

Note that I believe that my hair loss has mostly been due to SB, not androgenetic alopecia. My grandfather has a receded hairline, which is perhaps more accurately termed as a matured one, but a perfect crown. My father has also been suffering from SB for a long time, although he didn't have it right after puberty like I did. He has a perfect hairline, but a big bald area surrounding his crown.

My question is if incorporating Rogaine 5% foam will help me quickly regain the hair I have lost so far due to SB. I also plan to soon start taking 1000 mg of N-Acetyl cysteine and 400 mg of L-glutathione as antioxidants.

I am not sure if this is relevant here, but I had lost weight, about 20kg, in Summer 2017, with basic cardio exercises and intermittent fasting.

Have you read about finasteride?

Edit: Sorry. I just read the part where you mentioned it.

Minoxidil is great for the area. Due to your prior scalp issues the foam is the better choice so it is good you got this vs the liquid. Rogaine liquid has been making my scalp itch like crazy and when I don't use it it is fine. I wonder if the famous scalp itch for a lot of people is just minoxidil...
