hair thinning above sideburns, suggestions?

My hair is very thick everywhere except this area near my sideburns on each side. I started taking Biotin a few days ago, but this thinning started about a year or two ago. I am 27. Any suggestions on a cause or anything that should help stop it?

We have the same type of thinning, with me, one side is way more affected than the other

While many claim that it's not "normal" male pattern baldness, I've seen very extreme Norwoods where that area is free from any hair. So I think we just got screwed.
