Hair thin due to finasteride

My hair has been feeling and looking lot thinner since I have been taking the drug. I'm 2 months on 1.25 proscar at the age of 18, and I am already worrying if finasteride is actually destroying my hair rather than helping it. As you all know 18 is too young to lose your hair, and I'm worrying sick everyday. The sebum production also hasn't decreased. I'm also on Nizoral 2% twice a week. I take a saw palmetoo supplement and vitamin a supplement and stopped taking nettle extract due to having little money.

I will not touch minoxidil as I fear it will make my face bloat, and it gets incredibly messy. What else can I do to ensure my hair will be saved? Can someone also help with the proscar problem. I may post pictures later.

Thanks.

finasteride isn't destroying your hair. Your going through a shed and probably suffering from one of the more common side effects of young people with hairloss, paranoia!

When finasteride works well with your body, you should not be suffering any major shedding. It is a myth to say that if your shedding its working. Your hair will fix up again but thats your body fighting back against the finasteride, not finasteride starting to work.

You clearly are suffering a minor Telogen Effluvium, most probably due to the increase in Testosterone levels in your body.

I wouldnt advise finasteride to anybody suffering diffuse pattern hairloss but the best thing you can do is possibly wait to see if your body adjusts. finasteride is best on patients with localised hairloss which is caused by DHT. If your diffuse its probably unbalanced T Levels that was causing it. finasteride id just maing it worse.

Is there any truth to this at all? I've never heard anyone else around here say this? I would like some more input on diffuse thinning and its causes vs normal male pattern baldness ?

Lets just put it plainly. You either stick out propecia for a 1 year or more and see if it gets better, or you accept going bald. Your only option is propecia so its either that works for you or the fight against hair loss is over because nothing else out now will work anywhere near as well.

This knowledge is acquired from reading studies on this forum and my own experience with hairloss and the related drugs (finasteride, min, nizoral) and also anecdotal evidence supplied on this forum which i have been reading over the last year or so. Also its blatantly obvious.

This website pushes finasteride to anybody and everybody as it is a sponsor. Finasteride can do wonders for localised hairloss on the temples and crown, but do not forget that it is a highly dangerous drug that will unbalance all of your other hormones, shrink your dick in the process, cause some level of impotence and push you into depression. It really is a nasty drug that will f*** you up.

minoxidil on the other hand will destroy your face and cause premature ageing, and have no real long term benefits for your hair.

If your diffuse, find as many topical antiandrogens as possible and apply them. Try to lower your stress levels and do aerobic excercises to burn away excess testosterone and estrogen. Oh and definitely quit marijuana and over masturbation as these two things i believe are the major causes of premature diffuse hairloss in young people today.

Anyone agree with any of these claims, Dick shrinking etc....? Just curious!
