Hair Status - tips please

Good evening friends,

I am 24 years old and have been suffering from hair loss since I was 21. I wanted to do an hair transplant with Dr Kaan Pekiner. We did a Facetime, which I thought was really great. He said that if he did an op with me now, he would have a good result, but recommended that I start with Finasteride 0.5 g and generally strengthen the hair on the back of the head and then do the hair transplant. I will start with Finasteride 0.5 + Regaine from now on. (Have used Regain for 5-6 months) Loved his honesty. My question to you ... what should I do if I can't take finasteride because of side effects ...? Saw palmetto? And how do you find my hair status?

I found that saw palmetto had very little effect for me. Honestly, you will probably need something stronger in your situation.

You could possibly even try 0.25mg of finasteride every other day if there are too many side effects from 0.5mg every day. I've heard it's nearly as effective of a dose.

Dermarolling may help too. It looks like you are getting some decent regrowth on minoxidil only. Dermarolling will likely enhance this. But, since you are responding well to minoxidil already, the oral version would likely give you a huge boost. Something to consider.

The key is to give each treatment ample time so that you can figure out what's working and what's not. So if you do start finasteride, try it for at least 4-6 months before changing your routine dramatically (unless you are suffering from side effects of course).

About a NW3, diffuse. You're pretty young and have a good chance of getting back to a solid NW2, I would say.
