Hi guys I am a new member here. I am twenty years old and my hair started falling out about 6months to a year ago.

I saw my doctor and he put me on Propecia. I have been on it 2 weeks and about a week in a noticed a LOT more hair loss then normal? Is this normal I sware its thinner then it was before? If normal why?

I dont wash my hair much as I goto the beach lots, I wash every few weeks if I am lucky? Is this going to effect my hair? Should I take nizoral and if so why?

THANKS GUYS

The increased hair loss you are experiencing is call the initial "shed". This is very common to individuals using a treatment that works. Some of the old, weaker follicles are being pushed out by the new, stronger ones that Propecia will help to build. So, basically, this shedding is a sign that your treatment is probably working.

I would recommend washing your hair a little more often and also, purchasing Nizoral (1% or 2% both work). Nizoral has an anti-androgenic effect on the scalp, which both creates a healthy environment for hair growth and stimulates hair growth. If you're out in the sun a lot, I'd add a good conditioner to your regimine to protect your hair from heavy exposure to the rays.

As someone who has been on Propecia for 6 months, I'd recommend not to overly-examine your hair every day. Propecia and Nizoral are two of the best treatments. Your hair will gradually improve. You're doing all you can, so don't worry about it so much.
