Hello, I am a 20 year old female and have been experiencing hair loss for a short time now. I have never noticed a lot of hair shedding. However, the density of my hair has reduced by a lot. My hair had thinned a lot after spending four years in India for education. But at that time I thought it was normal because I had lost a lot of weight at that time. Once coming back my hair seemed to be healthy it was only about 8 months ago when I noticed a huge decrease in my hair density. I noticed that my hair strand gets thinner at the root. I don’t know if its miniaturization. I have noticed some much thinner hair that doesn’t grow that long but I don’t notice that many of them. And in the areas that I am experiencing hair thinning are usually tender and sore. I got my blood tested for iron levels and thyroid. The results said that I have normal but low iron levels and no thyroid problem. My dermatologist, however, said I should take these tests again. I don’t think, or would like not to think, that I have androgenetic alopecia as no one else in my family has had that. Miniaturization of hair has also occurred very fast for me especially within the past 8 months. My mom and dad started losing their hair after the age of 50. Other symptoms that I experience are depression (i dont know if this is because of the hair loss or if it is a symptom that occurs alongside hair loss), very dry skin, mood swings, and fatigue. I was wondering whether miniaturization of hair could happen due to reasons other than androgenetic alopecia. My hair has thinned throughout the scalp but mainly on my crown. If anyone can give any insight on my problem that would be wodnerful. I was owndering i anyone else has experienced a similar problem. this is an extremely hard thing ot go thorigh and i wish i find out why this is happening soon so i can start fixing it
