the main characteristic of my hair is that it is REALLY dry, so much that i HAVE to moisturize at night for it to be at all normal during the next day, this makes it seem more normal, does anyone else notice this??

Im thinking thyroid now, i even have pains where my thyroid gland is located, could be just a coincidence though but i have noticed it.

Dry hair is not really dry. What causes the dry appearance is scales on the surface of the hair sticking out due to electrostatic forces.

The cause is generally rinsing with too hot water or use of a non-acidic, nonconditioning shampoo. E.g., a person will rinse in hot water to force more water into the hair. This makes it worse and so on..

Treatment: Use only luke-warm ware to rinse after shampooing. Also conditioners containing "quats" or quaternary ammonium compounds. The positive charge on these balances out the negative charge on the hair scale and makes it lie flat.

thanks for the tips.

Another thing i suspect is my conditioner and shampoo that contain menthol/mint ive read studies that claim it stops sebum production so that could explain the additional dryness as well, so do you have any tips on a good shampoo and conditioner???

Shampoos and conditioners are all mainly variations on a theme. Similarly, everyone's hair is different. So pick one that suits you best. Remember, acidic "pH-balanced", shampoos and conditioners containing "quats".
