Hair growth chemicals

I've read that there are numerous chemicals/drugs that cause hair growth, it's just that they are too dangerous for other reasons. I've always wondered about them and what side effects they could possibly have. Your hair grows but your internal organs liquefy ? Your hair grows but your skin turns purple? minoxidil is the only tolerable one I guess.

I beleive the most powerful hair growth agents are the topical steroids (like cortisone) and the immunosuppresants ( I can't rememebr the name of it). Cortisone I beleive (like all sterioids) thins the skin and is only good for short-term treatement, after a while becomes dangerous; and immunosuppresants, well, they shut down your immune system - so you can imagine with that does.

I read about one they tried awhile back which caused mice to basically become huge furballs. Unfortunately, a side effect was that it caused them to develop phat amounts of tumours. Back to the drawing board.

If any drug had tolerable sides I think we would have heard about it by now :cry:
