Hair changing color, anyone heard of this?

My natural hair color is black, but I have very few hairs that turn white and some red. And by red I mean bright, orangish red. Not just on my scalp, but in my beard as well as my body hair. Like I say, these are very few but they definitely stand out against the rest of my black hairs. I can understand the hair turning white, but red? Has anyone experienced or heard of this? This began happening quite a few years ago, I just never understood what it meant since I haven't seen or heard of anybody else with this.

Wow! I can't say that I've ever heard of that before. When I first read the topic of your post, I was almost certain that it would have to do with sun-bleached hair. Guess that I was wrong  I'd sure like to see more discussion on this though as I haven't heard of this before.

Ive heard Minoxodil can grow hairs back in different colors like you describe. I suggest hair color, which will not only fix that problem but cause your hair to swell slightly, giving it a slightly thicker look.

Grecian formula might not do the trick, it just adds pigment to the hair which will just deepen the current color, so it will make those red hairs more red.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I also thought that maybe the sun had something to do with it. But is it normal that it would only happen to 1 hair in a given area? These hairs that turn colors are occurring in singles, not in groups. And I don't see how Minoxidil could be the culprit since this is happening on my beard, legs, etc. where I don't apply any Minoxidil. Honestly, this situation doesn't bother me one bit, I just want to make sure that it's nothing bad. I can live with a few hairs that are different colors, it's much better than not having any hair at all!!

I can almost assure you Minoxidil is the culprit because my dermatologist said she has seen it on several occasions when she used to have to prescribe Minoxidil and she would check up on the patients. In some cases its bad enough that people have stopped using it for that specific reason.

re:

As male pattern baldness progresses, my research has indicated that your hair becomes finer and finer and loses pigmentation as well. I found my hair to be getting lighter and this was actually one of the indicators that told me I was balding. Now that I have been using the big three my hair appears to be getting darker but I can see a mix of dirty blond hairs with my natural brown hairs.

Using minoxidil, finasteride and Nizoral gifted me the occasional black hair which had no place on my light/fair head.

Yeah i got a gingerish and black beard when i grow it. For some reason the hair only on my chin is a red colour when it never used to be. I also have random jet black hairs in my brown hair. No idea what the hell is going on but it's been like this for two years now.
