Hair can be pulled out easily?

If I grab some hairs and gently pull (can't even feel it), usually a hair comes out. Is this a symptom of male pattern baldness? I believe I have a mild case, but I also have Crohn's which complicates things.

My eyebrows/eyelashes are the same, I can barely pull them and they will come out.

no, hair can not normally be pulled out easily. Your are probably testing positive in the Pull Test.

Pull test - grasp 60 hairs with your fingers and pull, repeat this in at least three different places and if at least 6 hairs come out (10%) in each place, then you are positive.

The pull test is helpful (positive) for diagnosis of telogen effluvium, anagen effluvium, alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia.

you'll need to see a dermatologist about a proper diagnosis if you have other underlying issues.

if your pull test is positive in the pattern of male pattern baldness and if it appears that your hair is miniaturising in that area; then it is probably male pattern baldness.

The hairs I pull out arent thin small hairs, they're thick normal length hairs.

it doesn't really matter what hair comes out.

it only matters if that hair either grows back smaller or does not grow back at all.

If you have miniaturizing hairs meaning a bald spot where you never had one before which can be identified by pictures then its safe to say you have male pattern baldness. Statistically speaking its pretty simple. Odds are its male pattern baldness not one of the many other things people wish they had instead that can be solved by simple diet changes or decreasing stress or things like that.

The only way of knowing if you are suffereing form male pattern baldness is if you have hairs that are undergoing miniaturisation. One way of getting this checked is going to a hair specialist.

However, your hair loss could be occuring because of Crohns as many sufferers become deficient in different vitamins and minerals as they have a harder time absorbing them from their food. You should get that checked if you haven't already.
