hair breakage question

I know there isn't a correlation between whether a lost hair has a bulb or not and male pattern baldness, but I am concerned because when I lose my hair, they never have a bulb on the end...it always seems to be breakage. Also, sometimes the hair has a hard/flaky yellowish substance connected to the hair, where it would be connected to the follicle. Is the breakage a sign of something i'm overlooking? What is the deal with the yellowish deposit connected to the lost hair?

Thanks everyone.

My regimen is the big 3.

I noticed the exact same thing... the crusty end of the hair where the root is would be dead skin. If you have dandruff or a dry scalp that tends to happen.

don't worry about the breakage.... the healthiest hair gets that.. make sure you are using a good shampoo/conditioner. i don't examine my hair enought to notice it but with a good shampoo you can minimize it easily.
