Had a question for finasteride users

Ok so im thinking about buying finasteride (1mg) from united pharmacys and cutting into 1/4 and taking .25mg of finasteride a day. Should i take 1mg or is .25mg the same thing. Btw whats the difference between the 5mg and 1mg pills.
