So I've decided to I've put up with my hair loss long enough, and I'm gonna go to a dermatologist to stop it. However, I'm not sure how to go about asking for medication/getting on the big 3. I wanna get on finasteride, but should I just ask the Doctor to give me a prescription? Is there a generic brand that you guys find to be equally effective to propecia? In terms of nizoral, do I need a prescription for that as well? Also, I know that I can get minoxidil at the drug store no prescription required, but what brand/concentration is best? Finally, I wanna make sure that I have male pattern baldness, and not Telogen effluvium or something like that. How do I confirm my condition?
Sorry I know this post is jam packed, just have a lot of questions lol. Thanks!

Where are you? In the US?

You'll need to ask your Doctor for a prescription for finasteride. If he won't give you one, go to another Doctor, or if you want to increase your chances of getting one, go straight to a dermatologist. Don't stop until you find a doctor who will prescribe it to you

If you want 2% nizoral in the USA you'll need a prescription. 1% is available over the counter, and there is a study showing it to be as effective as 2% in fighting hairloss...don't know how legit that is

I'd order your minoxidil off amazon. You can get 6 month supplies of kirkland or other generic brands for much cheaper than you'll get it at the local drug store

Yeah I'm in the US. Thanks for all the tips. Is there a generic finasteride that you find to work well?
