Hi all,

I've started propecia and quited after only 4 days due to sides (testicular pain especially when climbing stairs, and chronic bacterial prostatitis).

So now I'm looking to expand my topicals. I've been using for at least 1 year Minoxidil 5% morning and nights, and spironolactone S5 cream only at night after the minoxidil application.
I've been able to slow down hair fall somewhat, but I still end with too many hairs in my hands when showering or applying the creams. I feel that I need to fight harder.

So, after spending the whole night reading a balding forum instead of having sex with my hot gf, I hope I'm eligible to get some help from the veterans.

I'm looking to add Fluridil or RU58841 or prescription Proxiphen.
Proxiphen seems to have good reviews around here, but I'm put off by reviews like this: http://hairlosshelp.net/forums/messagev ... adid=90486
Plus, it's damn expensive and I don't feel like stop my current regimen... it would be a drastic change.

I tried Fluridil about 1 year ago, but I think I didn't give it enough time, so I might try it again.

Regarding RU58841, I'm really curious about it :) I don't like the idea of mixing it myself, but I would do it. I read that you can order it from F.E. and from another place (which I don't know where from yet :) )

Oh by the way, I'll add 320mg/daily of saw palmetto just for fun.

Thanks folks for your help here,
twenties.

i wouldnt suggest adding the saw palmetto. Aside from the fact that it wont help at all, you'll probably experience similar finasteride sides as well.

Just like you I am very interested in RU. But i dont understand how it works at all. You have to mix it everyday? What exactly are you purchasing? It sounds like the perfect topical, but it sounds like a very confusing process.

I did not see anything about a keto shampoo, but i guess you already are using it since you have in on minoxidil for a year already.

Have you considered ret-a or folligen? Both improve your skin kondition and give a minor hairgrowth. Ret-a also improve your minoxidil absorbation. Both is a EOD product, but i guess you whould have to drop S5 EOD to use folligen.

There is no way you could get bacterial prostatitis from propecia. Did a doctor really tell you this? That being said: side effects sucks, you have my sympathies.

As for your regimen:
Keep in mind that it's normal to shed at between 100 and 200 hairs every day. Also, if you wash your hair really hard you are bound to pull some hairs out. There isn't necessarily a link between shedding every once in a while and losing hair. If the hairs you lose don't grow back out: that's when you start worrying.

The combination of a topical anti- androgen with minoxidil sounds like a good one. Personally I would chose fluridil over spironolactone, but spironolactone has some merit, I guess.

A good topical regimen (IMO) would be:

Minoxidil/w 0.01 retin-a once or twice/day
fluridil every night
tricomin/day
Ketoconazole 3 times/week

This gives you 1 anti- androgen, 1 growth agent, 1 combined anti- androgen and anti- inflammatory, and 1 growth/anti scarring. Retin- a for increased absorption.

Either that, or you could go completely anti- androgen:
spironolactone 2 times/day
Keto- lotion 1 time/day
fluridil 1 time/day
Revivogen shampoo 1/ day
RU 1 times/day

(remember that water breaks down fluridil, so do not use it simultaniously with ohter treatments. Preferably, also use it on a clean, dry scalp, without any residue from other products.)
