Going from Avodart to Finasteride

I've dropped my avodart dose from 0.5 mg daily to 0.5 mg about 2x per week now for about 2 months. Would I be able to now get off avodart to finasteride without losing hairs and/or shedding further?

Avodart destroyed my hair. Any advise and help would be appreciated!

Your post interests me greatly because I started taking dutasteride two and a half months ago. You said Avodart destroyed your hair. How long were you on Avodart? I thought Avodart blocks almost all DHT. If almost all of your DHT is being blocked, why would you lose hair? Also why would you want to switch from Avodart to Finasteride? Isn't Finasteride essentially just a weaker version of dutasteride? I would think you would lose more hair after switching.

Why does it do what it did to my hair? I don't know, I don't have a clue why. But I know for a fact that it has destroyed my effin hair, even destroyed 65% of my transplanted hairs at the front and hairline! They're gone! I reduced it to about twice per week my 0.5 mg dose and started xandrox 15 plus and sheds have somewhat decreased. dutasteride hasn't done anything to my hair but cause massive sheds and loss over the past 19-20 months or so, and that is why I would like to stop it and get on finasteride. But I'm only afraid that I will undergo ANOTHER massive shed once i stop dutasteride and get on finasteride....which is my reason for starting the thread.

Einstein,

Foums go up and down in traffic and usually in the Summer slow down considerably. I have been here for 6 years and it's always the same. We are by no means really slow, actually this forum is still the busiest one out there and usually always is. We are just having our "summer lull".

Also calling the forum names and trashing members by stating they "have their heads up their butt" will probably ensure you do not get many responses.

In addition you state members used to give alot of responses but yet you have been here almost a year and only have 28 posts and yet you expect others to jump all over you threads with alot of responses. If that is the logic then one could say did you not contribute as much as you should have. See my point.

Point well taken bud, did not intend on offending anyone in particular, but review my previous threads with "zero" responses as well. I only have 28 posts within a year because i had problems signing in and had even emailed your admin about the issue to no avail - I can forward you the email or two I sent you long ago if you like, just pm me.

Anyway, don't want to take this out of context or off track. Too many good dudes here and hope I didn't offend anyone.

Shedding is just... frustrating :innocent:

Moving forward, I received a response from Dr Lee stating that dutasteride will only continue to cause sheds but they are not permanent. He sais that these sheds from dutasteride are a result of hormonal imbalance, but if I continue using them I will continue puting more hairs into telogen stage. He further sais that although I definetly should get off dutasteride, getting on finasteride may not be wise as I may see similar results.

Anyone rocked the same boat as me at one point? What were your results?

No worries Einstein and I do understand your frustration but there are unfortunately periods of less traffic on forums and this happens to be one them.

Thank you for your for the response my friend.

As you said... moving forward!! Carry on guys. :) Let's grow some hair!

Stick to it in my opinion. It seems Dr.Lee is just against dutasteride (Probably becuase people will save their hair and not need his products?) I'll believe Bryan's word over any doctor and if he believes dutasteride is better, and will out-perofrm finasteride in the short-term and long-term, I'm going to stick with it.

Stay strong and keep taking your dutasteride, I personally havn't experienced a shed, and i kind of think it's people just being paranoid? But a hell of alot of people must be paranoid. Meh I don't know, but what I do know is finasteride is worse than dutasteride, stick to it, shedding must be difficult, but you certainly will regret it if you don't ride it through.

I'm well aware of the sheds and I honestly DO NOT THINK ANYONE has been as patient as I have. I was shedding for 13 months!! and I kept trying to be optimistic. Is that in my head or being paranoid? No.
