going from 1mg to .5 finasteride

I am starting this today because after 2 plus years on this crap I feel that my chest looks more boobish. I've heard that .5 and 1mg has pretty much the same effect? Can somebody give my a yay.

here's a yay for you... i don't have the official graphs from the study, but yes, .5mg is just about as effective as 1mg with half the chance of sides. maybe socks will chime in on this one as i know he's researched this stuff a lot... he does something like 2.5mg every 3 days or something and says it just as effective.

im thinking on taking propecia every other day, but the thought why didn't they make propecia .5 mg if it was as effective as 1 mg is stopping me from making that step.

Actually I think I have been on finasteride for 3 years. So in the past 3 years, my hair loss has not increased significantly. I still have frontal recession, but it jsut seems that its taking longer to lose my hair. It would be oh so lovely to say that my hairloss stopped, but nope. If I were letting mother nature take its course, I feel as though I would be receeding pretty damm bad.

I will still use it...but I'm changing to .5 mg just for piece of mind because my chest is looking a little wierd....but like it has been posted above, why don't people just use and sell .5mg? I always had puffy nipples after taking finasteride, but as of the last 3-4 months it just seems worse so .5 here I come.

it might havea similar effect on DHT reduction but you might, key word: might, have a shed. I've read this sometimes happens when cutting a dose in half after being on 1 mg for a while. But you'll probably be alright.

so, if u guys could clarify...right now i cut my little blue finasteride pill in quarters..i was taking 5ths but its too hard to cut. now youre saying i can take some amount every 3rd day only? could you please clarify.thanks

Im going to switch to 0.5 also, as soon as my latest order gets in. Mostly just as an experiment. I forgot to order and havent had any in almost a week.

In the last week I have not noticed an increase in sex drive, mine wasnt super high on finasteride, but healthy. I didnt get super horny as soon as I ran out or anything.

Here is a study from the hairlosstalk Resource Library to tell you the difference of 0.2 mg and 1mg of Finesteride.

My personal prescription was for 1/4 Proscar every 2 days, but my doctor said that I can even do less, so for now I'm doing 1/4 Proscar three times a week. That averages out to be just a little more than 0.5mg per day. I was very worried about sides, but for now, I have had none whatsoever. Libido still great, no erectile dysfunction, no painful nipples, nothing - I only hope it still decreases my DHT and at least thickens my hair. And according to this study, it should.

Also, I don't think they make any 0.5mg Finesteride, because it is still marketed as a prostate drug, and I'm guessing 0.5mg won't help prostates much.

I can't go with .5mg because I split Proscar, but I am going to every other day because I am getting great results with another treatment.

Go with .2 mg. It's just as effective and a lot cheaper, if ya know what I mean.

I may go with 0.25, the 3 month supply I just bought would last a year. Not bad for 86% effectiveness.

Looks like I'm going to be cutting my proscar tabs into friggin 8ths and taking an 1/8th (.625 mg) every other day.

I've been doing 1 mg (1/5th of a tab) every other day and - and now after approx 5 weeks - I just felt that tell-tale nipple burn as it rubs up against the inside of my shirt.
