Going bald vs. being bald

This question is for any nw5 and aboves that may be here.

Which is harder to deal with:

The process of going bald; every day being worse than the day before.

Or being bald; the point where you've lost all of the hair you're going to lose, offically making you a bald man.

In my mind they are both embarassing but I always figured that once I've lost all of the hair I'm going to lose I can begin rebuilding my confidence from there.

Or on the flip side I can also imagine losing my last strand of hair would be like losing my last strand of confidence.

What do you think?

Its difficult to explain. Whilst your still losing it nw2/3 you are constantly battling against it (trying diffrent hairstyles etc to disguise it) after this point most people just shave it and then its gone. As you progress further you do come to accept that you are indeed bald. Which to some point is a relief but you are also conscious of the fact that you have a bare head!
I suppose you could look at it like this when you are balding you feel panic that its noticible etc (what if someone decides to make a comment, or stares at your receeding hairline) at this point you are struggling to accept that you are losing your hair, but for me when I was actualy bald I just felt like 5h1t. Nobody would really comment because there was nothing to comment upon. And although I had now accepted the fact that I was bald, I just felt like nothing.
I had no life and I didnt matter, I hated my reflection in the mirror and took no pride in my appearance because without hair I could'nt look good. Yes I still worked out but I gave up on trying to be stylish or fashionable.
So the truth is both are hard to deal with but in different ways.

Hair loss is a self destructive process as we know all to well so the question I have to ask you Captain is,

If and when you are finally bald, why then and only then do you feel as if you can begin rebuilding your confidence? Is it because you have no where else to go?

My understanding would be that if you can not rebuild your confidence now, what is to say that you will be able to do so then (when your finally bald)? Should you not continue to descend into mayhem and peril at the cost of your own mind?

The process for rebuilding your confidence should begin now. It's hard to swallow but the language of our mind can be poisonous to our souls or the bearer of all things good.

"Language". That's all it is and as simple as it may sound it requires dedication. If you re-write your inner language you will strip down these barriers that ONLY you have created which stand between you, self confidence and a normal life.

I try to practice what I preach and when I remained focussed it does work.

A little off the topic here but sometimes I wish I could just go completely bald. I'm talking bare skin no stubble.
I've though about shaving my head and being done with it. But I know how people will then perceive me. "He shaves his head because he is going bald" Why? I think the worst thing you can do when losing your hair is to shave it all off. You can tell that it's not just a hairstyle choice because the bald areas still stand out just as bad surrounded by stubble.

When I started to loose hair in early 20s I decided that the situation was hopeless and I wanted to face my fear so I shaved it all off. Not pretty, but it gave me a preview of what my fear was of... and I was ok. My NW2 stayed a lot long than I had imagined it would. I had written myself off too quickly.

I guess with going bald we are afraid of how people would perceive us. Shaving your head is a good preview.

I think that once you reach NW3 shaving is the best option. So what everyone knows you shave it because you're going bald? (you shave it because you dont have a choice!) once you pass nw3 you cannot have a hairstyle! When you get to this point your panic about "what does it look like? Bad?" is over you know how it looks in rain, sunshine, strongwinds etc ...
Maybe some guys can then start to rebuild their esteem but some guys will also hit an altime low and never truly recover it depends on the individual and his character.
