Getting proscar or dutasteride prescription from dr.

I have been taking progress pics every month after I get my haircut for the past 8 months, and things seemed to have held pretty steady until the beginning of August, where suddenly it looks like I lost a ton of hair. I am wondering if the barber cut it shorter than what it was last time, or if the lighting in the room, which was different in each pic, was playing tricks on me. Anyway it freaked me out and now I am wondering if I should step up to avodart. My current regimen is 1.25 mg fincar ED, nizoral EOD, and generic minoxidil. 5%.

My current supply of generic fincar is almost out and I am considering trying to get a precription for either generic proscar or dutasteride from my general dr. The last time I tried to get it, the dr. would not prescribe it to treat male pattern baldness, but I have since moved and am now seeing a different one. Here are my questions:

1. If I go to the dr. and ask about this, should I mention that I have already been taking generic proscar that I got from an internet pharmacy for almost 2 years now? I would think they would frown upon people getting medicine that way, but if don't tell him, then he might just say "Let's just start you out with the proscar", when I know I've been on that for a long time now.

2. Has anyone here successfully gotten a prescription for Avodart or generic Proscar to treat male pattern baldness?

two people recently posted that they got a prescription for avodart. most did not attempt to, and some did get turned down, and I got turned down by two doctors.

I highly doubt your doctor will ask you who prescribed you proscar. Most places don't even have your records unless they are forwarded. Just tell your doctor you were prescribed proscar before, and it worked for a while, but then your hair started noticeably getting worse. Then be educated about how safe avodart is and the half life and other info about the drug. Before a Doctor prescribes it to you, they want to know you won't get surprised or think you have a side effect and sue him/her. Tell the doctor that if you feel any side effects, you will get off the drug, and that you agree to have your liver tested, and that you know what you are getting into. That might put the doctor's mind at ease. You can easily get a real proscar prescription if he/she says no to the avodart. First do everything you can to get the avodart.

Could this be a minoxidil shedding? Maybe you post your pics for comparsion so that other people can judge.
