Started using Rogaine five months ago. I began getting heavy dandruff after two months. I was shampooing my hair daily and brushing my scalp with a stiff bristle brush to knock the dandruff loose. I put up with it for a couple of months hoping it would get better. I finally contacted the manufacture and spoke to them on the phone. They told me that this was the reaction that some people got from Rogaine and that there was nothing they could recommend to treat it, suggested that my only option was to cease using Rogaine. They explained that the alcohol content of the Rogaine was drying out my scalp.
This all got me to thinking, if my scalp was dry why not use some oil? I started applying a few drops of baby oil directly to my scalp just prior to applying the Rogaine, My dandruff disapeared immediately. I have been following this protocol for about a month now and the dandruff has not returned.
I just put a little baby oil on my finger tips and then vigorously rub it into my scalp, only in the area I am applying the Rogaine.
