" Two isoenzymes of 5 alpha-reductase enzyme are recognised:

* type 1 - which is located on the short arm of chromosome 7 and occurs in all skin tissues
* type 2 - which is located on the short arm of chromosome 2 and occurs mainly in the genital skin"

Surely there's a reason these are in the skin?

hmm so I was thinking while reading this about these random curly sickly like hairs I get on my hairline while i'm doing treatments. The hairs are curly, coarse and when pulled out have a very dark and rough looking pulb. My question I came up with is, if i'm blocking type I of the 5 alpha-reductase enzyme than am I increasing suspetability to type 2?

Basically i'm trying to connect the skin in our genital area, to the areas where we bald. If i'm able to increase the amount of type 2 to my hairline, is it causing these hairs to become pubic? Gentail skin = male pattern baldness ?

It's kind of a gross thought but it's kind of interesting. I know i'm not the only one who's seen these weird hairs on our hair lines. Next time i pull one out i'm going to compare it to a pube

kinked hairs on the head is a sure sign of male pattern baldness.
if you look closely at some of your dropped shafts, you'll find they are flat and pubic like, only not kinked. roll it between your fingers, you'd be surprised about how many hairs u thought were healthy straight cylindrical types, are actually flat.

beats minaturised hairs anyday if u ask me :p

Ya it has been almost a year... I had a pretty devestating shed after I quit minoxidil. The chest pains and weird forehead zits were just too much. I let my spironolactone/revivogen just run out. Probaly due to frustrations.

That was last december. I started up on spironolactone/revivo again a month ago. That year off of treaments really set me back. Currently looking into making my own spironolactone again
