Generic Propecia?

So I went to the dermatologist and asked him about my hairline. He said he feels it looks good for my age and that I should not worry. But he gave me a prescription for Propecia because I said I feel my hair has thinned a little and I have a family with aggressive male pattern baldness and all but one of the men in the family is bald.

I went to HEB to get it filled and it was around $70 for a months supply. When I asked for generic they said that it did not come in a generic tablet. I thought you could buy just finasteride? Do I have to ask for a prescription that specifically says finasteride?
