Obviously we all know that Finasteride 1mg works the same as Propecia, just like Dutasteride works the same as Avodart and Finasteride 5mg works the same as Proscar because they have the same active ingredient. Of course there have been some that complain that switching from brand name Propecia to generic causes temporary shedding (most likely not permanent). Personally, I have had success with Finasteride 1mg (generic propecia), but my pharmacy is allowed to switch generics without giving my consent and this has actually already happened one time with no problems at all (Dr. Reddy's to Camber). However, I know consistency is key...

So my question is should I stick with the same generic that has been working for me the next time they do this? Has anyone had a positive or negative experience switching from generic to another generic? If so, please share. I'm also gonna post a poll to see what everyone is using, just out of curiosity.

Using any generic brand is perfectly fine as long as the supplier is reputable and that you're getting genuine Dutasteride and/or Finasteride from a clean source. I've tried different brands of Dutasteride, including Dr. Reddy's version, and I've had no issue at all. My pharmacy has switched generics on me before with no problem.

If you wanna 'support' the big pharmaceutical companies like Merck for example with Propecia or GlaxoSmithKline with their Avodart, then buy from them. If you only care about your hair and wallet then buy the generics, which is what I do. :)
