Hi everyone,

Thanks for any counseling you might be able to provide. I'll make a long story short. I have some chronic health problems that have become much worse over the past ~2 years. During this time, I've noticed what I can describe as generalized hair thinning over my entire head. It's most noticeable across the top of my head. I have no hair line recession.

I'm torn about what to do. I will see a dermatologist next week to have a thorough discussion. On the one hand, I'm 35, so I feel thankful to have made it with most of my hair this long. I also realize that getting my health in order is more important than my hair right now. On the other hand, if this is genetic, I would prefer to do something about it, though I wouldn't want to add any unnecessary problems through hair loss treatment while I'm dealing with other major health issues.

Basically, can any of the experts here think of a reasonable way to proceed? Is considering finasteride a bad idea, given my complicated health picture? Is getting on Minoxidil, and Minoxidil alone, worth it? Or should I wait until my health issues are resolved (don't know when this will be), and then reassess?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
