Full caps, are they comfortable to wear?

I'm a guy who likes my hair long but I'm also going to be working in the medical field after some schooling and I'm thinking it will probably be better to get a short haircut and a shorter hair system to make life easier.

But I also know that at the snap of a finger I could get a full cap and have long hair if I wanted when I go on vacation or whatever.

How has the experience with full caps been for any of you who's worn them?

Full caps have always fascinated me. But really the nape seems to be the real issue.

There is a video online of a guy doing a full install (Google: Jrob full cap) and there's a video of it.

I'm a guy with long hair and wear hair systems. If you've want long hair and you've still got quite a bit of bio hair left on the back and sides, I'd recommend getting a hair system that covers your balding area and keeping your bio hair on the back and sides. Full caps are much harder to attach - not only do you have to line up the hairline, but then you have to do the temples and nape. In my view, it's far better to shave the balding area on top and get a system which covers this. The long hair system should ideally be the same length as your bio hair, and will cover it at the back and sides.

Here is a some really good info on long hair systems from Hair Direct: https://www.hairdirect.com/learn/hairsystems/custom/design/length/longhairstyles

If you work in the corporate world and want to look smart, just tie your hair back when at work.

Thanks for the reply

True, I did see a guy in a photo at a local health care place website I was looking at who had hair way longer than mine and a beard so that's a bit promising. Health care workers are needed anyway so I guess only a small percentage of workplaces can afford to discriminate, although potential hairfall which does happen at times even with my healthier hair that's not from the balding area does happen, but that happens with women too and a healthcare cap can fix some of that.

Yeah that does seem like a hassle, definitely not something I would want to do full time but it is an interesting thought for changing the look up, although you would have to grow some areas out to blend it better

Does it even have to be on the nape that much as to cause problems? Maybe it could end before a bit? People's back hairlines are at a different distance as well.

Tie your hair back? That would reveal all the hairline, no?

Not necessarily. Even if you tie your hair back, you don't have to slick back the hairline and expose it. I put my hair in a central parting, and most of my hairline is not exposed, only the area where the parting is, even when tied back. I've never had a problem with having long hair and working in any jobs as tying it back when I need to works fine.

I want to get a longer hair system later in the year and I spend ridiculous amounts of time trying to find the few images online of longer styles (mine will be not much longer than jaw length). But I've yet to see a decent looking one although I'm sure someone must have one. Most of the examples I see are guys who have no hair at the back and sides and are basically completely shaved but just have a sort of severe looking undercut style in a pony tail, rather than blended in as yours is; they never looks attractive. If you'd ever think about posting a few photos of your result (face blanked out of course)I'd be grateful! (and kind :)

I'll have a look to see if I can find any photos that show my system, or I'll take some soon. In the meantime, here are a few videos showing long hair systems for men (the first one does not shave his hair at the back and sides; his long hair system goes over the top of it):

Final link is some long hair system tutorials from Hair Direct:

Ah yes, I’ve seen all of them, honestly I search every day to hunt for examples, it’s an obsession haha. Appreciate you taking the time thanks for reply. Also a question - how long does the hair last you on average and do you find it tangles? Cheers!

It would give you more to worry about than having a short haircut with bangs that's for sure, I do kind of miss having a fade haircut sometimes although with my bio hair I could never have bangs as thick as I wanted lol. I've got plenty of years of college to go so saving some money on hair systems for now going with a short fade cut could be nice since having long hair pretty much doubles the cost and I won't be making the money I want to make for a couple of years.

6 inches is the maximum with no additional cost. Isn't that enough of length?

Most of them I consider exposed hairlines. Women are good with long hair and nonexposed hairlines:

Yeah to me I consider 6 inches as part of a shorter haircut since I'm around 14-16 right now but 6 inches is definitely nice, when I had fade type haircuts I still had the hair pretty long on top going down towards my eyes

Actually, you CAN have long hair with a 6 inch stock system. Here's how it works: you need long bio hair at the back and sides, and then you put the 6 inch system on top, to cover the balding area, and you blend the two together to create the look of a full head of long hair. This is what I'm currently doing until I get a custom system. It's obviously better if you can have a custom system with hair length the same as your bio hair on the back and sides, but I'm just letting you know it's possible to still rock the long hair with a 6 inch system as a starting point.

True 6 inches is still pretty long, usually about the cut off point for a lot of guys before they get a haircut then let their hair grow another half a year before cutting it and repeating lol, mechanic/blue collar guy hair length

Yeah, the hair on top doesn't have to be longer than the hair on the sides and back. Hairdressers know very well how to create such haircuts.
