I've always had a thick head of hair. Hairdressers would always tell me my hair was the thickest they have seen which I didn't think much on or really care about. Fast forward to 26 years of age and I notice my corners receding towards the M shape. I was an early Norwood 2 at this point. By the time I hit 28 my corners were receded a bit more making me still a Norwood 2, getting closer to a 3. It did bother me but I got over it. I'll be turning 29 in 20 days and my hair has been drastically thinning literally over the course of a few months.
I got my haircut 3 weeks ago and at first things were fine. My hair has since grown a tiny bit and out of nowhere I'm noticing that If I comb it straight down at all, there's this huge gap in the middle of the top of my head.
I do have diffuse thinning but 3 months ago the top of my head was thicker and I never saw any of my scalp, it was only the corners. Now out of nowhere, the top of my head easily shows my scalp in this spot. Even post hair cut it wasn't this bad.
I'm attaching photos and hoping to get another opinion. I can totally understand balding in the typical M pattern and even some crown hairloss, but my crown is fine, it's above my hairline that seems to be thinning out of control and I mean, a massive different in just 3 months? Even more of a difference in the past 3 weeks. Could it be my thyroid or something else?
My Dad is 50 and has pretty much the exact body type as me. His hair is also very similar. He's a Norwood 3 which gave me hope that I'd make it to 50. He has no visible scalp on top of his head. My entire family on both sides have most of their hair. Some recession sure, but none of them are in noticeable bald territory. Is my male pattern baldness just that aggressive?
Any advice? Thanks for your time.
