From dutasteride to finasteride

I went from being on dutasteride(2.5 yrs) to finsterise and I made the transition gradual.

Now I'm 6 months into Finasteride and shedding badly these past 3 weeks. From months 1-5 I saw decent and good results with finasteride. Thickening and some regrowth in crown area. Has finasteride stopped working for me or is this a shedding stage?

I didn't think I'd shed from dutasteride to finasteride, and if I was going to shed I assumed I'd shed the first month or two on finasteride and off dutasteride.

Would someone be able to shed some light? I'm shedding to a point you can see my scalp easily. Strangely, up to this point I was geting great results.

If you were on dutasteride 2.5mg a day then its a pretty big gap between that and the 1mg of finasteride a day!!!

I switched from 0.5mg dutasteride to 1mg finasteride and saw a lot of shedding... I have bumped up to 2mg finasteride and that seems to have helped.

But honestly 2.5mg dutasteride to 1mg finasteride? You're going to struggle with that change I think

I switched from dutasteride to finasteride as i'm planning on starting a family in the next 12 months... It takes 6 months for dutasteride to leave the system, and I didn't want any in my body around that time.

The reason that you're seeing a crapload of hairloss is because of the less amount of DHT that's being inhibited. A 24 week study showed that....

Finasteride 5mg 75.6 hairs
Dutasteride 0.1 mg 78.5 hairs
Dutasteride 0.5 mg 94.6 hairs
Dutasteride 2.5 mg 109.6 hairs

Sorry my mistake, I read the 2.5 years as 2.5mg for some strange reason :smack:

I took 0.5mg once or sometimes twice per week. First 5 months or so I had nothing short of amazing results. Fromthat point on massive sheds. Sheds lasted almost 2 yrs. I kept telling myself it's just a phase.... But it ruined my crown.

I completely stoped dutasteride about 7-8 months ago and have been on finasteride for almost 7 months now. Saw good result with finasteride up until this point. Thinning of scalp and shedding these past 2-3 weeks. Was wondering if this may be normal.

a Yellowish Color

for me was finasteride much better as dutasteride!
