The minoxidil keeps running down the side of my head, and it's pissing me off (I use it for my hair line). Have any of you experienced users figured out what to do about this!! Is there by luck of luck, perhaps, a gel form?

Bonus question: nizoral feels soft and cuddly on my scalp, but it's a dandruff shampoo. What exactly is going on that makes it good for hair loss?...

I love hair loss talk!

Fighting off running minoxidil is the national sport here at HairLossTalk.com dot com, my friend. Welcome to the club.

hehehe... But, I do have some tips for you. First off, be more patient with your applications, and really get a feel for the dropper. I have really reduced my runnyness by being more gentle when I press the dropper head. All it takes is a small pinch! Instead of applying 10 drops, apply 20 small droplets. It takes more time, and you have to be very deliberate. When you put dropper to head, LOOK at the dropper and give a pinch. Try to gauge the size of the drop, see if it runs, really examine it. If it runs, then rub the run into the scalp, move a half inch to the right, and try again, but try to release just a slightly less amount. Soon, you will learn just how large of a minoxidil drop you need on which areas of your scalp, and have a feel for exactly how firmly you have to pinch the dropper head to deliver just that right amount.

Additionally, you really have to tilt your head a bit after application. If you are applying to the sides of your hairline, you have to tilt your head to keep that area as level as possible. After applying it, sit still for a minute to let it set in, and 'grab hold' of some hair shafts, and then go about applying to the next area.

In short, if you are patient and deliberate with your applications, and take a little more time to apply it, then runnyness can be reduced markedly.

Lastly, if you have the minoxidil dispensers that have that 'dauber' thing on it then you need to get rid of it and get a dropper instead. If you are using Rogaine, with dauber, there is a number listed on the box the dauber came in telling you where to call to have them send a free dropper to your house. Or, get an empty plastic dropper bottle, and dump the stuff in that and use the dropper. The dauber sucks, no control over the amount applied. I think it was designed as a trick to get us to use more. The dropper allows you MUCH better control over the droplet size. Get the dropper, learn it, live it, love it. Good luck. Gardener.

Or better buy a 1ml syringe (which should be divided into 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 etc ml) with no needle of course. Then fill it up to .2 or .3 and then start applying it to your cornrows.

nizoral will help with any itchiness and flaking from using minoxidil. The active ingredient in nizoral may also have a affect on regrowth.

Personally, I love Dr.Lee's dabber bottles for applying minoxidil to my hairline. I can also use them along the part in my hair. Another method I use is just applying a small amount with the dropper at a time. With T-flav (which is much runnier than minoxidil), I hold one hand up against my hairline to catch any runaway drops. Then I kinda pat it back into the hairline.

You're in Canada, so you can order Lee's stuff without the consultation hassle and fee. His site is http://www.minoxidil.com His regular minoxidil (#503) dries very fast, if you order some, I think you can request an empty 'dabber' bottle in the comments section when ordering. They're one or two bucks I thinks.
