Like you... I have been balding for a while now. I want some external advice from someone other than my family.

Is it time to buzz it off or hang in there?

FYI, I am currently rocking a buzz cut because watching the hair fade away was starting to get painful. Like others here, it is hard to know when is the right time to fully embrace baldness. I guess I am asking... Is it time?

Well with that thin hair, and the color, 90% of the times I would say buzz it.
However you seem to have a large head compared to shoulders. Keep it.

I'm gonna go ahead and respectfully disagree with Mr. @Roberto_72. Buzz it. Buzz it. Buzz it. I don't think you have a large head--I do think close up photos give that appearance for most people. I've never understood why people have the issue with buzzing when your hair gets to that point. It's not like it's going to come as a surprise to anyone (plus you're already doing the buzz, as you say). It will look better than remnants of wispy hair flopping all over. You got a good shaped head (hella homo--no homo doe), you got the facial hair, you know how the buzz feels: DO IT. ROCK IT. BE FREE MY CHILD! BE FREEEEEEEE.

Nah dog, get a hair system if you’re in your 20s. If not buzz it. Are you on treatments big bro?

Are you talking to me or him? OP is 30 according to his profile. I’m gonna go ahead and tell OP to ignore everyone else and listen to me. Also, people on a hairloss forum will probably be inclined to lead you one way in this circumstance.

Well, friends and family tell me to keep what I have. They say things like.... "it doesn't look that bad"

I don't want a rug on my head, and I tried finasteride and Rogane. finasteride gave me depression after 3mo so I stopped. Rogane was very effective... at first... then it basically quit working well before these photos were taken.

It looks good from the front but trrrible from the back/top. I think a buzz will help de-emphasize that contrast and you’ll still have a decent looking hairline.

I say try it. If doesn’t work it will grow back

Thats the thing. You can never ask people who love you about hairloss they always lie. Got to ask people who don't like you and they will tell you he harsh truth. If finasteride and rogaine wouldn't work out then you have to ask yourself, how comfortable are you with having no hair for the rest of your life? You are 30 so the social stigma might not be as bad as theres a lot of guys in your age group that are noticeably balding now.

Exactly what I was struggling with. From the front, I can whip the hair around with a very specific hair cut and it doesn't always look "bad". But there are starting to be more days when I can't hide the bald creeping up on me.

Thank you all for the great advice, this was the little push I needed to recognize that I really am at a cross roads with my hair loss.

Ok yall, I am going with the Buzz for life! On to phase 2... I don't really "like" how I look with a buzz, so I need to come to grips with the new look somehow.
