Hey guys,

So, I went to a hair salon system place today. They said I had to go every month to take it on and off including the haircut..which seems like BS along w/ a new wig that cost 300-500 dollars every month. So, that's from 3,600 to 5,000 a year! fudge that! I also asked what type of material and he said it's a poly "m" something..

From researching online, I thought systems lasted about 3-4 months and you can take it off and on yourself. Even get it cut from your personal hairstylist but notify them. I'm wondering if I should lose hope as a last resort.

Btw do you guys know any good sites for East Asian hair??? besides watching youtube vids I'm not sure what the average price is etc...I'm a newbie and need some direction on where to start if worst comes to worst. Thank you!

That seems pretty outrageous... where are you located?

My supplier charges $495 for a stock, European hair system, and $795 for custom (also European hair, other hair is cheaper).

I paid 40 Euro for the initial style, and do all of my own maintenance (which they showed me).

I'm located in Richmond, VA. 2 hours away from Washington DC.
I'm watching other videos but I need a place to start. I guess I'd go to a salon first for the first set up and haircut and wig but not sure after that when the hair grows back??? get it cut every 3-4 months at that same salon along w/ the wig b/c I doubt normal places offer it. I know for sure since I run everyday that I probably must take it off every week.

Thank you for your advice as well!

Hi Noveau,

When you are speaking to people in the business, best to refer to it as a "hair system". A wig refers to something that will fit over your entire head and is usually held on by elastic. I am guessing that is not what you are looking for.

If you are active, a base using French Lace is a good way to go, since it breathes. I live in a very hot climate and mine last between 6-7 months.

I am not sure about other salons in your area, take a look at the link, and see if maybe there is someone near you.

Depending on your style of choice, you can cut your own hair at home (I do, so do others, system off), or you can go to a reputable stylist in your area, explain the situation, show them the edge of the system, and they can cut around it. I had a haircut in Madrid, Spain, by someone who NEVER worked with a hair system before, and gave me a killer fade. They just CANNOT cut the hair of the system.

Once you get the hang of it, weekly or bi-weekly maintenance is no big deal.

Take your time, don't be in a rush, and do your research.

Let us know if we can be of more help, we are here for you!
