Hey Guys,

Well, I have been very optomistic and hoping that in a few months I will be in the clear. Latelly my shedding has increased and I have been seeing a lot of hair in the shower. These hairs are all very thin and I am even lossing hairs that dont look like they are in resting phase i.e. dark bulb. My hairline has not moved a bit since starting my regimen but my overall hair now feels thinner. Could I be going through some sort of Telogen Effluvium or even have begun to see some sensitivity to Propecia. I have started using Rogaine on my temples only. Anyone have seen this happen around month 9 and/or have any advice.

Thank you!
Tony

Tony, Tony, Tony my maiiin, no need to worry yet! First off, when did you start Rogaine? You might just be going through a Rogaine shed. Even though you only apply to your hairline, the chemical does spread around a bit through the vascular system and will affect a broader area of your hair.

You might also be going through a seasonal shed?

A hair with a dark bulb does not necessarily mean that it is not in resting phase. You really can't make any kind of judgements by looking at a bulb from a shed hair.

Thanks Main!!!

So Rogaine could actually be having an effect on my whole scalp, Ive been using it for about a week now. I just apply it to the side of the temples and let it set. My hairline, like I said, hasnt budged but my overall hair feels so thin right now. I do recognize that hairs stay in resting phase for 2 to 4 months and these hair were most likelly going to fall out anyways. Now, do you think I should stop the minoxidil, as I type this I feel a headache coming and my face is burning a little. Bad Reaction? I just dont know.......

Tony,

What you describe is not atypical from using minoxidil. I would stick with it, for me, the initial irritation subsided with time. However, if you've only been on the minoxidil for a week, I don't think it is the minoxidil that is causing the shedding.

But, believe me, give minoxidil 3 months and you will start to see some signs of change a'happenin' on your scalp.

Yes, Minoxidil DOES spread around a lot. It makes my beard grow in noticeably faster, and it has done a number on those hairs on the back of the neck that the hairstylist usually trims off. Now, I have to give those hairs a shave myself in between haircuts to keep from looking scruffy. I have heard that both of these are common minoxidil side effects, and are testiment to the fact that it does circulate a bit.

Thanks B!

I'll keep the faith!

My sex drive is so high right now its crazy! Im like a rabbit right now....I just hope this is not a case of reflex hyperandrogenicity. I dont have the increased oiliness or the zits so that is a good thing.

Jebus!!!

Anyone else care to add...

Thanks,
Tony

Last time I shed I lost white and black bulds on various hairs. I am not suer this is an important aspect of the "shed."

I sh*t you not, one time I had one that was both. Maybe it was two bulbs stuck together? It was like a yin yang. It seems my hair is the calm center of the universe bro.

As far as everything else, I have nothing to add as I agree with everything The Gardener said.

Thanks Cassin!!!

I have been very good at not worrying, sort of been on a Ying Yang state of mind. The last few days have made me a little nervous that is all. Just needed some advice from the PROs........

The battle keeps on!

Thanks again Guys!

I bury each of my shed hairs in tiny individual coffins and then carve tiny headstones for them, I feel it is the respectful thing to do.
