Ok you do have some thinning,
luckily for you you've got on meds, hopefully it wont progress any further. Things are'nt too bad for you, yes under sruitiny you can see that you've lost some hair but in general nobody passing you in the street would consider you to be bald/balding. At least you're doing something to combat it when I was in you're position (8/9 yrs ago) nobody had heard of finasteride/dutasteride.

What are you talking about? Some hairloss? The difference between the normal thickness hair (the tuft in the left temple) and diffused area is horrendous! I've been on the meds for over a year, they don't work! The crowns got a lot better than it was, and the scalp pain on that area has disappeared. So it's obvious the meds work on the crown but not anywhere else.

You've got some mild thinning I guess. But then again you're hair is short. It's far from full blown mate, really, I see people who are not balding and have hair like that. =)

Keep on the meds, stop looking at your hair, and rock on dude!

Hahahaa!

I'd leave your hair the way it is mate! You don't have any real baldness to conceal, I assure you. =)

GHG, I think that a lot of how your hair looks in those photos is down to the fact that you have fine and straight hair. You're taking a photo from top down, pointing down the hair strands so that they don't show up as well. It is also exacerbated by you hair type which is naturally quite fine? However I agree that there is a bit of thinning going on, just not as severe as it is made to look by the photos. How long is your hair in the photos? About half an inch?

I had my hair cut down to about half an inch/three quarters at the beginning of summer and it looked a lot like that. It depressed me a lot because every time I looked in the mirror I DEFINATLY would see scalp. Since then I grew it out and it looks a bit better, maybe you could grow it out a bit if it bothers you?

P.S. If there's a sunlight above you, never get a hand mirror and inspect your hair underneath it. I did that once when I had my hair that short and almost topped myself.

no neeed to shave yet ,you defintly have thinning going on but for taug to say that he would shave it is insane,GHG you are in a worse posistion than me with your hair but i will probably overtake you eventually.
grow hair grow your hair intreasts me in the fact that all your paternal family have great hair and you say that your maternal family is balding.
all my paternal family have also great hair and most of my maternal apart from my maternal grandad.
It seems that if your maternal grandad has any hair loss you are doomed.

p.s GHG your hair still looks good ,only us guys would ever know you were balding

Yeah it is about half an inch there, I buzzed it a little over month ago and I guess it grows about 1 cm - 1.5 cm in that time. Anyway, it bugs me that treatments are working on the crown but not on the top of the head, it really does my head in. I don't know what I could do differently to cease the scalp pain on the top.

I guess it depends on which parent you inherit the hair from, mine's definitely from the mothers side, brown hair just like my mothers. My father (and his father too) had black hair but it's a bit grey now. All us 3 children (me, my bro and my sis) have brown hair.

well my father has jet black hair although it is now grey, mine is exactly the same color and thick texture (was) my mother had very blond hair and medium texture, proves that it is a lottery

Dude have you got any photos from top down from when it was buzzed? I'm considering doing it, would like to see what yours looked like so I could take a guess at what mine might look like too.

I'm having the opposite effect with treatments, my hairline and temples filled in a bit but now my crowns got thinner, I'm thinking from the rogaine foam. What's your regimen?

Listen GHG...and especially all you other fools out there. There is a lot of thinning...yes it has 2 do with the hair type and yadda yadda...but I can assure you ive seen someone with the thickest HAIR buzzed down and scalp still shows...@ that length..its unnatural for hair to show through..but even more so for there to be such a vast difference. Im about to upload some of my own high defintion pics in a second when i used to buzz my head down to guard 4. GHG jus buzz that sh*t. You could cover it up with length but i think it jus looks ugly especially after yo go swimming and sh*t. And I agree about the fact that these drugs aren't doing much for us. It has nothing 2 do with ur hair color either, i used 2 be a blonde but my hairs way darker and looks just like yours...its jus looks a lil better cuz theres less hair/scalp contrasting.

My regimen is finasteride 0.5 mg / day and Rogaine foam 1x day. Sorry I don't have any top down pics when it was buzzed. I would assume it looks somewhat like MacAttack's, maybe a bit thinner.

Mac it's funny, my hair used to be blonde too up until I was in my teens.

Yeah man lately my hair has just ALL gone to sh*t (In terms of general thickness). Like i remember i used to be a THICK Norwood 2, and now literally my whole scalp underwent a horrendous thinning and my hair is all super fine (including the horeshoe area). I'm on 1.25 mg fincar as well [and i know that its working because i get much more watery semen and less scalp itch]. Its pretty fucked, and really depressing. but i guess i should give finasteride a good 12-16 months before i judge.

growhairgrow would you be willing to give my regimen a chance? I think you might be suprised. Just put aside minoxil. Take finasteride, eucapil once daily and apple polyphenols. I also use roller on my scalp when I am in the shower also. give it 4 months. for me tha hair loss stopped completely and the regrowth continiues. Every month I see a better coverage and my front is closing up. My mom even said lately that I have very thick hair. and 7 month ago I have had a see through scalp even when the hairwas dry. I will never ever use minoxidil again. That is the worst thing for hairloss in my opinion.
It's not a cheap regimen but I dare you to try it
