30 dollar test which measures your TSH. Should be able to tell you if you have something like hypthyroidism which can contribute to hair loss. The reason I'm posting this is that some insurance companies like some HMOs will not approve lab tests willy-nilly, so this can save you some cash. You prick your finger, put it in the thing, send it back in the mail, and you get your results in a week or so.

p.s- i looked around for the cheapest price and it appears to be amazon, considering that they have the free super saver shipping. at most places it's 35 or 40 but at amazon it's 30.
and no the test isn't perfect because it doesn't measure free T3 or free T4, etc. but the test is only 30 bucks, so yeah. and if your TSH is out of whack then you can probably take the results to your primary Doctor and justify a whole battery of tests
