First Post - success with Minoxidil

I don't know much about hairloss except what I read here and there. I do know though that at the beginning of this year - 2003 - my hairline began to quickly recede.

This happened before in my late 20s but the recession stopped at an acceptable level (got lucky). Now I'm in my early 40s. I don't know if this is classic male pattern baldness but my forehead looks like a horseshoe and is getting worse. My crown has hair though - for now.

At the beginning of the year my recessionline was tolerable. No more.

About two months ago I began applying Minoxidil to the balding areas. I was skeptical but incredibly little hairs began to grow in 5 weeks!!!! Now, at one point they disappeared completely on my left side but are back again.

They are tiny but SOMETHING is definitely happening. I just thought I would share this story with those of you who may be frustrated right now.

Oh, there is one more thing I started to do at the time I began minoxidil. I read in a reflexology website that massaging the fingernails stimulates hair growth. I've been doing that too.

So my hair growth is either the result of minoxidil or reflexology. Take your pick. Either way I am hoping the success continues!!!

Jim

Alternate Shampoo with Nizoral, T-Gel, Neutrogena clarifying, Tea Tree, and Prograine.
Use Minoxidil 5%.
Take biotin.
Do reflexology on fingernails.

I've read about this too, but I didn't understand the method people were using to rub their nails. Do they use thier left hand to rub their right hand nails? Or do you make fists and rub your nails against your palms?

Thanks.

Bombscience, I have a hand-held massager that I use on my feet and neck. I simply use it on the back of my fingernails.

Yeah, you're the second guy I've heard mention fingernail 'buffing' in the last couple weeks. I googled for "fingernails reflexology hair" and found this site that mentions the 'buffing' (down where it say 'reflexology'). I guess you can just rub the nails against eachother, makes a nice sound too.

Holy crap friends! I just checked the page again, and they also mention "hair tugging". I posted once before about how Christopher Walken said on Conan O'Brien's show, how he heard of JFK using the "hair tugging" technique.

You won't get me to tug hard on my hair though!

Hair Tugging!
Ill quote it from that site
Hair-tugging,

Bend your head forward.

Grasp a hank of hair close to scalp.

Tug hard, relax your grip, then tug again.

Repeat the procedure three times.

Repeat all over scalp, to stimulate new, thicker growth, concentrating on any thinning areas, such as the sides of the forehead.

Sounds like a good way to pull huge clumps of hair from your scalp and thats about it.
