Hello I'm 52, this is my first post.
I am required at work to wear a hat. Who knows how long I'll stay at this job but the hat has helped me avoid showing my hair loss. I also come to work in a hat.
The only treatment i occasionally use when I don't wear a hat is the hair fiber powder. I also dye my hair with Herb atint a health food store brand.(no ammonia, no alcohol, no parabens)

I have had hair loss since, I think my late 20s.
Currently I'm receding somewhat but there is some thin hair there at the front and the whole front is thin. I let my front hair grow long and I comb it back so by front view is not that bad.
But recently I held a hand mirror directly above my head and noticed my bald spot is worse than ever, it's about a 4 inch circle mainly on the top and to the back a bit also. There's not much hair there and my hair is medium dark brown so the baldness stands out. I never see this when I wake up and look in the mirror but people can see it from all those other angles they can see it that I can't.

At this point I don't want to try the medicinal treatments yet.
My hair is cut medium short
So I'm looking at these option for the immediate future

1) have my hair cut very short buzz cut
but how will this look with the big bald spot on top? Would it be an improvement? Some people seem to think it is.

2) Looking at the pompadour style
I wouldn't necessarily have the sides drastically shorter than the top but could I pull off something like this?
If I grew the front much longer could I, with blow drying and a bit of hair spray have the front hair blown back to the extent that it would cover most of the bald spot?

3) none of the above, continue with a medium short haircut and use the hair fiber powder

lastly, if I want to take it to take it to the expensive level it seems I would be looking at $4,000 to $15,000 for a transplant. I'm in NYC so I assume the higher end

thanks

Uh you're 52. At this point what are you really expecting? I'd recommend:
Rogain for sure at least 4 times a week.
Saw Paw
Biotin
finasteride, maybe.
Give it 8 months.
Use concealers.
Wake up every day and say to yourself "Holy Sh*t I'm 52!"

...I'm 52 as well...
